About Me

I grew up in the midwest and was introduced to science through science fairs in middle and high school. After getting a degree in Human Biology from Michigan State University, I completed my PhD in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Johns Hopkins, where my husband and I fell in love with the city of Baltimore.

We have since moved to Chicago for a postdoc at UIC. I have switched fields from looking at malarial proteins using X-ray crystallography to using genetic and molecular biology techniques to study protein trafficking pathways in yeast.

Outside of lab, I love to travel (most recently to India for 2 months), paint, run, and read (especially classic literature). I also love trying different foods and wine (perhaps too much for my postdoc salary).
